Adam Equipment HCB Highland Portable Precision Balance

Adam Equipment HCB Highland Portable Precision Balance

The Adam Equipment HCB Highland portable conventional, or precision, balance has a two-second settling time for increased productivity. The balance can be operated using AC power, or with the integrated rechargeable battery for up to 24 hours for full mobility in the field and when a power supply is hard to find. This balance has an automatic internal calibration system and an overload protection that prevents damage to the weighing cell and balance if too-heavy samples are mistakenly used. Integrated RS-232 and USB ports are available to transfer data to a printer or PC using the included cables. The below-balance weighing hook suspends bulky items beneath the balance for weighing.

The balance has a digital display with a backlight for increased readability in low light conditions. The automatic data accumulation option continuously stores data each time the balance stabilizes on a measurement, and application keys provide shortcut access to parts-counting or percent-weighing mode. The removable plastic draft shield prevents dust and airflow from affecting a measurement. The ABS plastic housing is durable and easy to clean, and is built to withstand tough field and lab environments. A built-in security slot for locks and cables protects the balance from unauthorized use or theft. The balance can be stacked and stored on top of other Core or Highland balances that have a 120 mm diameter pan, with or without the draft shield, to save space. The stainless steel weighing pan resists corrosion and is easy to clean. Warrantied by the manufacturer for two years.

Balances are measuring instruments used to determine the mass of an object, while scales are used to measure the weight of an object. The measurement results from balances are generally considered to be more precise compared to results from scales. Mechanical balances are the simplest type of balance, and use a lever and slide to indicate the measurement. Conventional balances are commonly used in offices, the jewelry industry, and in kitchens, and display results digitally, but are less precise than analytical balances. Analytical balances measure to a high degree of precision and accuracy (0.0001 g or better), and display results digitally. These balances have a cover with doors to prevent dust and airflow from affecting the measurement. Moisture balances analyze moisture content in a material sample, using infrared or halogen heat sources to dry the sample and then calculate the moisture content from the before- and after-drying weight, and display results digitally, on the balance, or transfer the information for display on a computer.

Adam Equipment manufactures balances, scales, and related accessories for laboratory, educational, industrial, retail, and medical applications.
